"I like the idea that Scout made it available for anybody to be seen by the biggest agencies in the world, for a very small amount of money, that people that are legitimately in this business, who are really looking for people are going to be seen. and that turned me on."

Model Inquiry

Do you have any information on this company? They want
people to pay to be seen by agencies but I don't see
any list of the agencies that will see my portfolio or
even a page where my portfolio will be shown?

Thank you.

P.S. They ask for $40 sign-up fee and $20/month after that.

The company Scout Marketing LLC (d/b/a Scout Network d/b/a SCOUTWEBSITE.COM) was created in mid-October 2004. The domain scoutwebsite.com was "Created on: 12-Oct-04."

Already, its advertising claims, since only mid-October, "Scout works with hundreds of agencies and over 1,000 industry professionals to get new models discovered."

Really? Over 1,000 pros joined in about nine weeks? 111 new pros join every week on average. Really? Is this another Wilhelmina Scouting Network from Florida? (WSN was the biggest modeling scam in US history.)

"Scout," still new, but still says, "Scout has spent years building what we believe is the best way for actors, casting directors, and industry professionals to meet each other in a mutually beneficial network."

Oops.

"With the magic of the Scout system an actor can receive the same level of exposure with an investment of under $100."

Is that a fact?

Scout Marketing LLC claims to be connected, working with all kinds of people, but they do not substantiate their claims, and they are not credible. Credibility would come from either: 1) substantiating their claims, saying who all these people are who work with them; 2) being around for many years, building a reputation; 3) the leadership being recognized industry leaders (who are well connected).

Scoutwebsite.com does not list all the agencies involved, has not been around for years, and has no good reputation to speak of, and its leadership are not recognized industry leaders.

There is no reason why the agencies who supposedly use scoutwebsite.com are not listed. Models.com, which offers a similar service, and is not new, lists the participating agencies. Agents from the participating agencies, indeed, post comments in their forums. You can check to see if the advertising claims are true.

The Wilhelmina Scouting Network used unsubstantiated and widely believed to be false advertising claims about who used their website (1,000 agencies/professionals) to scout for talent. They also charged $20/month. The truth was almost no agencies used the site.

Scout is NOT "a recognized leader in the entertainment industry." This is fraud. The same job scam was done by emodel, aka Options Talent, aka Trans Continental Talent, aka Wilhelmina Scouting Network. Monster.com banned them after a Newsweek investigation. Most all the "employees" were fired after 30 days or less and many or most were not paid.
