They recently held a pageant in Austin, Texas. I was told to submit an application and $20.00 fee AFTER the cut-off date. I didn't get the correspondence back saying that there was a $99.00 registration fee. However, I started looking the company up on the internet and when I found out about this registration fee, I e-mailed them and was told that the fee would be $49.50.
I took my daughter to Austin and let her participate in the pageant. I started talking to another mother and read the brochure (the one I never received) and found out that indeed the $99.00 registration was applied to everyone else.
They also don't tell you that adults coming to watch the pageant must pay $20.00 each to get in. And, the souvenir journal is $20.00 each. They seem to run a [. . . ] operation! I still have not had my daughter's pictures returned!
Parent's Complaint
I AM WRITING ABOUT GLAMOUR PAGEANTS AND YOUNG FACES. I TOO WAS SENT A CONTRACT IN THE MAIL FOR MY 2 YEAR OLD. I WAS GOING TO SEND THE $150.00 FOR THE BOOK UNTIL I READ THE BACKROUND CHECK ON THE COMPANY. I THOUGHT THAT SOMETHING WAS FUNNY WHEN I LOOKED AT BOTH THE LETTER FROM GLAMOUR PAGENTS AND THE LETTER FROM YOUNG FACES. THEY SEEMED A LOT ALIKE. THEN I NOTICED THAT THEY WERE BOTH IN THE SAME AREA.
WHEN I CALLED GLAMOUR PAGEANTS ABOUT THE VIDEO I HAD RECEIVED OF THE PAGEANT BEING INCOMPLETE. FIRST I HAD LEFT ABOUT 5 MESSAGES STATING THAT THE TAPE WAS INCOMPLETE. NO ONE EVER CALLED ME. THIS WENT ON FOR FOUR DAYS. THEN I CALLED BACK ON MONDAY SAYING THAT I WAS CALLING ABOUT THE PACKAGE THAT I WAS SUPPOSED TO RECEIVE IN THE MAIL, LEFT ONLY MY FIRST NAME AND NUMBER AND I GOT A CALL BACK WITHIN THE HOUR.
I ASKED THE LADY ABOUT YOUNG FACES, STATING THAT I NOTICED THEY WERE IN THE SAME AREA AND THAT WE RECEIVED A CONTRACT FROM THEM. I ASKED HER IF SHE KNEW WHETHER THEY WERE WITH THE BBB OR IF SHE KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT THE COMPANY.
I FOUND THAT SHE REACTED VERY STRANGELY, SORT OF STUTTERING, AND NERVOUS, AS IF SHE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO SAY. SHE TOLD ME THAT SHE DID NOT KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THEM BUT THAT I COULD CALL MY LOCAL BBB AND ASK THEM.
IF THE COMPANIES ARE ONE AND THE SAME, AND THEY ARE NOT DOING SOMETHING WRONG, THEN WHY ARE THEY HIDING THE FACT THAT BOTH COMPANIES ARE OWNED BY THE SAME WOMAN?
I HAVE ALREADY GIVEN GLAMOUR PAGEANTS ALMOST $1,000.00 AND I WILL NOT GIVE YOUNG FACES A PENNY. MY DAUGHTER IS AN EXTREMELY BEAUTIFUL LITTLE GIRL AND I DO NOT NEED TO WASTE MY TIME AND MONEY WITH SOME SECOND RATE [. . .] ARTIST COMPANY. THEY WERE DISHONEST TO EVERY PARENT THAT THEY CONTACTED.
